Home Robot Compared is an independent guide to robots for the home and yard. We collect as little as we can. This page says what, why, and who else touches it. To ask a question or to ask us to delete something, use the contact form or write to [email protected].
1. Who is responsible
Home Robot Compared is an independent project. That is who decides what happens to the data described here (the "controller" in European law).
2. Information we collect
We never ask for your name to read the site, we have no accounts for visitors, and we do not take payments. What we do collect:
- Server logs. The address of the request, the page and the browser, kept briefly to run the site and keep it safe.
- Measurement data. Which pages are read and how people search, through Google Analytics (see section 5).
- Store clicks. When you press a store button we count the click: which robot, which store, which page and your country. No name or email.
- Price alerts. Your email address, the robot you chose, the price you set and your country.
- Messages. What you type in the contact form: name, email, topic, message and your country.
3. Cookies and browser storage
We store your cookie choice in your browser so we do not ask again. Google Analytics sets its own cookies only where you agreed or where the law does not require asking (section 4). We run no advertising cookies. After you click a store link, that store may set its own cookies under its own rules. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is filling in a form and may use browser storage for that.
4. Your choices about measurement
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we count your visit only if you say yes in the cookie notice. Elsewhere the count is on by default. You can change your mind at any time: .
5. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which guides and robots people read. Advertising features are off. Page addresses never carry your name or email, and before we send an address we remove the part after the question mark, except campaign tags that start with utm_.
6. How we use your information
To keep the site running and safe, to see which pages help readers and improve them, to answer your messages and fix mistakes, and to send the price alerts you ask for. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.
7. Service providers
A few companies help us run the site: Cloudflare delivers it and protects it from abuse (your request passes through them), Google provides Analytics, Brevo sends our email, and our own server stores the data above. They handle it for us and for no purpose of their own. We do not share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
8. Affiliate links and stores
Some store links are affiliate links, Amazon among them, and we may earn a commission if you buy. The commission does not change your price. What the store learns about you is under the store's own privacy rules. How we earn.
9. Price alerts and email
If you ask for a price alert we first send one email to confirm the address is yours. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link; after you use it we send nothing more.
10. Why we may use your data (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
We count visits only with your consent. We answer your messages and send the alerts you asked for because you asked us to. We keep the site running and safe and count store clicks without names because that is in our legitimate interest and does little to your privacy.
11. International transfers
Cloudflare, Google and Brevo run servers in several countries, so your data can be processed outside your own country, including in the United States. We rely on those companies' own safeguards for that.
12. How long we keep it
Contact messages are kept until you ask us to delete them. A price-alert address is kept while the alert is active; after you unsubscribe we keep the address only so that we never email it again. Click counts have no personal data and are kept as statistics. Server logs are short-lived. Google Analytics keeps its data under its own settings.
13. Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask for a copy, and object to how we use it. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland you can also complain to your data protection authority. If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, the same requests are open to you; we do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
14. Security
We protect the data with access limits, encrypted connections and regular updates. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute safety.
15. Links to other websites
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of the makers, reviewers and stores we link to. Read their policies.
16. Children
The site is written for adults who are choosing a purchase. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
17. Amendments
When this page changes, the date at the top changes. We do not use your data for anything that is not written here.
