# How We Earn: Our Affiliate Disclosure

**Short answer:** Home Robot Compared earns a commission when you buy something through some of our links to retailers and brand stores. This normally does not change the price you pay, and it does not change the specs we show or which models we list.

## How does this site make money?

This site is free to read. We earn a small commission if you click a link to a seller and then buy. That is called an affiliate link. The money pays for running and improving the site.

The programs we join may include retailers and brands. If you buy through a link, the seller pays us. If you do not buy, we earn nothing.

## Does it cost you more?

It normally does not. The price you see at the seller is set by the seller. Links may carry a tracking code, but that code is how the seller knows we sent you, not a charge added to your order.

## Does it change what you read here?

No.

- **Specs:** we show figures from makers and other public sources, whether or not a model has an affiliate program. See [How we collect and show our data](/articles/how-we-collect-and-show-our-data/).
- **Which models we list:** we list models for the whole catalog, not only those with a link that pays us.
- **Placement:** we do not accept payment for placement, for a better description, or for changes to a spec.

A model with no purchase link is still on the site. A model with one is described the same way as the others.

## How will I know which links are affiliate links?

We mark them. Where we show a link or button to a seller, it will be labeled, and we will tell you near it that we may earn a commission. We aim to make this clear and easy to see, in plain words, in the way US consumer guidance expects of affiliate sites.

## Why don't you show seller prices?

We show the manufacturer's list price where we have one, and we label it as a list price. Next to it we offer a button to check the current price at the seller. Seller prices change often, so we do not quote them as if they were fixed. Most models do not have a list price in our data, so what you see may be missing. ## Is anything here professional advice?

No. We are not a licensed financial advisor, and nothing on this site is professional, financial or legal advice. It is general information to help you compare models. Read the maker's manual and decide for yourself.

## What this means for you

You can use the site knowing how it is paid for. If you buy through one of our links, we may earn a commission, and your price normally stays the same. If you prefer, you can go straight to a maker's or seller's website.

**Next step:** Narrow your options with the [Help me choose](/help-me-choose/) quiz, or read [How to choose a robot lawn mower](/articles/how-to-choose-a-robot-lawn-mower/).

## Quick answers

**Do you get paid if I click but don't buy?**
No. We earn only if you buy through a link, and only from programs we have joined.

**Will I pay more through your links?**
Normally no. The seller sets the price.

**Can a company pay to be listed higher or described better?**
No. We do not accept payment for placement or for changes to specs.

**Is this page up to date?**
It was last updated on 2026-10-08. If our setup changes, we will update this page.
